PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Our predoctoral training program encompasses research focusing on an understanding of the mechanisms of drug action, the discovery of new drugs and their targets, delivery of those drugs to their site of action and an evaluation of the therapeutic response. Within this broad scientific framework, students are encouraged to develop individually tailored programs of study to meet their particular research interests and career objectives. The program is housed in the College of Pharmacy, near the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center and Kentucky Clinic on the beautiful campus of the University of Kentucky, and graduate students have easy access to a multitude of state-of-the-art research facilities and resources. In the College of Pharmacy building, for example, one finds the Center for Pharmaceutical Science and Technology. A few buildings away the Advanced Science and Technology Commercialization Center (ASTeCC), provides lab space and the latest in equipment for multidisciplinary collaborations and start-up ventures. The University of Kentucky library system offers graduate students the resources and staff to access the most up-to-date research information available.
