CMBI 新年特别奉献:
2002年度科学明星 —— Small RNA


    2002年6月,CMBI曾经以RNAi为主题,收集整理了110多篇专题文献作了一次特别报道(见RNA&RNAi)。12月20日,Science杂志将"Small RNA & RNAi"评为2002年度的最耀眼的明星!同时,Nature杂志亦将Small RNA评为年度重大科技成功之一(详见CMBI每日一文Science/Nature年度特别版)。RNA研究的突破性进展,是生物医学领域近20年来,可与HGP相提并论的最重大成果之一。
    RNAi最主要的功能特色在于,它可以调节和关闭基因的表达,进而调控细胞的各种高级生命活动。这不仅提升了人们对RNA分子的认识,还会大大推进基因功能的研究,更为各种劣性传染病的防治和肿瘤等医学顽症的根治,开辟了一条新的有效的途径。因此,Small RNA与RNAi的研究与应用,具有极其重要的理论和实际意义,它将对医学生物学的发展,产生深远的影响。
