The Mouse Genome


  小鼠(Mouse),一直以来都是生命科学研究,尤其是基础医学研究和药物试验的重要模式生物。自从人类基因组精细图谱发表之后,科学界就一直期待着小鼠基因组测序结果的发布。本周末,国际小鼠基因组测序合作组织(Mouse Genome Sequencing Consortium)终于在Nature上发表了这一期待已久的,又一个具有历史性意义的基因图谱!更加令人惊奇的是,该工作表明小鼠的基因数目同样也有30,000左右,而且有99%的基因都能在人类基因组中找到相应的同源基因!人与鼠,有着相近的基因数量,相似的基因结构,却有着迥然不 同的表型与性状,这又一次很清晰地向我们表明的非编码区(Non-coding Region)和基因调控(Gene Regulation)研究的重要性!目前,所有的小鼠基因组序列,均可从公开的数据库中免费下载得到,毫无疑 问,这些资源是遗传学研究的宝贵成果,更会对疾病基础研究、药物开发试验和临床诊断治疗,都起到非常大的推动作用!为此,CMBI特收录了相关杂志最新发表的系列文章作为特别报道,以便大家全面了解这一生 命科学领域的又一重大进展。
